Rebecca is a stay at home mom and hairstylist by trade. She has one year post-secondary education from Briercrest Bible College and one year at Richards Beauty College. Becca joined the board in 2015, because she was aware of the positive impact United Way had on the community and surrounding area. This is an organization she wants to contribute to and be a part of to give back to those in need. Becca thinks of the Board as an awesome group of hard working dedicated members. There is no shortage of laughter which makes the meetings enjoyable to attend. Becca is also involved with the missions committee at her church, the Macoun Evangelical Missionary.
Michelle joined the board in 2021 because she has seen the positive impact United Way Estevan has on our community and residents year after year. She loves being a part of an organization that provides meaningful support to the community through multiple member agencies. Michelle is a Police Officer for the Estevan Police Service and is married with 4 fur-babies. Michelle and her husband, Matthew, enjoy snowboarding in the winter and kayaking in the summer.
I work for Kingston Midstream and my husband and I also raise cattle. I joined United Way because I love to be even just a small part of making things better for our community. There is something about giving back to people in need that gives me such a great sense of pride. I have always been a supporter of United Way through volunteering, donating and even participating when I was younger. I cannot wait to see where my UW journey takes me!
Larry is one of our longest serving board members, joining back (way back) in the early ‘90s. His primary reasons for being involved for so long are to help others, and to make a difference where we live. What he remembers most each year is that moment when we reach our goal, knowing how many individuals in our community will be helped through the funding United Way Estevan provides to the important member agencies and community impact projects. The Hillcrest Breakfast Club has a special place in Larry’s heart – he volunteers there every week he’s available, and has done so since it started. Larry feels that the United Way is a priority in our community, and he would like to encourage others to get involved, especially young people. Small acts of kindness go a long way. Create positive change!
Danny Ewen works at Westmoreland Mining in Estevan as a Coal Hauler and Truck Driver.
He joined the United Way Board in 2015. Danny is passionate about helping others through both fundraising and manual labour. “The United Way impacts so many people through our member agencies. So by helping the United Way reach and exceed their fundraising goal, I feel proud in helping thousands of people in one fell swoop.”
Becca Foord is the Business Manager with Foord Trucking Ltd. She’s been on the Board since 2016, and currently holds the 1st Vice President position on the executive. Becca grew up with United Way through performing with her school and having family members on the board. She sees the impact the United Way has on our community. Becca also gives back through coaching girls’ softball and participating in the high school musicals. She loves to curl and play ball.
Wendy Gustafson is a social worker, and is employed with Saskatchewan Health Authority as an Assessor for Home Care. She joined the Board in 2010. Wendy has served on numerous boards including ECS School Community Council, Macoun Parks and Rec., Relay for Life, Chair of Chem Free Grad, and Board Secretary for Macoun Evangelical Missionary. Wendy says: “I love being a part of the United Way as I am passionate about the work we do - being blessed by being a blessing - working with people that share the same passion.” One of her favourite memories was getting so emotional watching Margaret Duncan’s little children holding hands and singing ‘You raise me up’ at our Telethon. That moment really captured what we are all about! Wendy is grateful and humbled to be able to serve on this Board and always amazed at the generous hearts of the people in this community and surrounding area!
Hey, my name is Robert! I am the owner of Lemon Wedge Marketing Group with my best friend and business partner, Melissa Deitz. I am proud to be able to serve so many valuable businesses and organizations in Estevan, including United Way Estevan. Being born and raised in Estevan, I have seen and felt the impact that our member agencies and community impact projects have on our city, and that’s what drives me to serve as a director on United Way Estevan’s Board. United Way Estevan has played a huge role in my life from performing as a child, to volunteering as a teenager, and then joining the board. I have loved being a part of our UWE family and helping to find innovative ways of growing our support while staying true to our values and honouring our traditions.
Doug McDavid works at SaskPower as a Safety Specialist. He has been involved with SaskPower's United Way Workplace Campaign for years, encouraging coworkers to donate to the United Way Estevan. In 2008, at the urging of his coworker and previous board member Jim Warner, Doug joined the Board of Directors. Doug knows the importance of being active in his community and of giving back. In their spare time, Doug and his wife love to go on bike trips.
Linda joined the United Way Board in 2020. A lifelong resident of Estevan, Linda is practicing retirement at present. Linda is proud of the resources provided to the Member Agencies and is pleased to be able to ‘give back’ . Linda participated in the first United Way Telethon/Radio-thon as a high school student way back when as well as singing with various choirs over the years. Linda sits on the Estevan and Area Literacy Group Board and knows first-hand the significant impact United Way Estevan funding provides.
Denise joined the United Way Estevan Board in 2019. Born and raised in Estevan, she is excited for the opportunity to give back to the community she calls home. She is the Chief Financial Officer at Prairie Mud Service as well as the owner of DO Accounting & Consulting. When she is not busy working, she enjoys spending time with her family, whether it be camping, fishing or playing games. In the summer you can find her in her backyard tending to her flowers, and playing with her goldendoodle, Marley. In the winter, she enjoys crafting and reading.
Mark joined the United Way in 1999 looking for a way to give back to the community. He was involved in many aspects of the Board and Telethon and was President in 2007-08.
His interest at the Telethon found him working with the performers' musical set-ups and helping mix the live sound for the Telethon.
He has formed some long-lasting friends and relationships over the years and is still blown away by the support of the community for the United Way.
In 2020, he and his family were recipients of help from one of the Member Agencies following a house fire in the middle of the night.
This help further instilled in him the importance of the work the United Way does as we all are affected in some way by the work of the Member Agencies.
In his spare time he loves to fish, jet-ski, ride his horse, exercise, and garden.
Elizabeth is a Parts Counter Person at Finning Canada. She joined the Board of Directors in 2012. Elizabeth is also involved with the Estevan Motor Speedway. The reasons for her commitment to the United Way is so that she has a chance to vote about the kind of community and world we want to live in, it gives her a chance to give back to the community she believes in while empowering others to take part, and it allows her to grow real relationships while doing so. Her favorite thing about volunteering for United Way Estevan is the friendships she has made along the way. Elizabeth is proud to be a part of this great board and is grateful to give back to our community.
Lynn Trobert is our Treasurer and one of our longest serving board members. She’s been an integral part of the United Way Estevan for more than thirty years, since sometime before 1990. The committees that she continues to be involved with are the Allocations and Banking Room committees. Lynn was President in 2000. One of her fondest memories is having fun in years past with Muriel Pangborn, Georgie Cochran, Debbie Salaway, and Wendy Biette at the Telethon. Lynn is a dedicated community member. She’s been involved with the Estevan Motor Speedway for the past 18 years, either as a volunteer or on their Board of Directors. One thing she takes pride in is interviewing the member agencies from year to year, seeing how far they have come and knowing we’ve been a part of that.
Breanne Van De Woestyne resides in her hometown of Estevan, Saskatchewan. In her professional career, she is the co-owner of a digital marketing agency - Impact Creative SK. She started up Impact with her sister, Kaitlyn and helps clients throughout Saskatchewan tell the stories of their businesses or organizations.

From watching the show throughout her childhood to volunteering as a teen and young adult, she is excited to be a part of a great group of individuals that all care about making Estevan the best it can be.
Jacie joined the board in 2021. She was born and raised in Estevan and has fond memories of taking part in the telethon throughout elementary school. She understands the significant impact the United Way has, and while she did leave Estevan for many years, she has recently returned and is excited to get involved and to play a part in such an important organization to this community!
Shelly Veroba joined the United Way Estevan board in 2015 because a friend and fellow board member nominated her. She is the Manager of Creighton Lodge, which is an enriched living complex for seniors. Shelly finds it a rewarding board to be a part of, as United Way Estevan helps the member agencies to continue the great things they do in our community. United Way relies on volunteers, which is why Shelly made the commitment to be on this board and to assist with the planning and delivery of both the annual Day of Caring and Telethon.
David Willberg is the editor for the Estevan Mercury. He has been a member of the United Way Estevan’s board of directors since September 2006, but was introducted to the United Way several years earlier. The first article he wrote after moving to Estevan was on the preparations for the United Way’s telethon for that year, and when David covered the telethon for the first time, he realized it was a truly remarkable event that brings the community together.
David served as a host for the first time in 2004, and two years later, was elected to the board.
Many of his favourite memories of Estevan, both personally and professionally, are from experiences with the United Way, and he’s met some wonderful people thanks to the United Way.
The United Way brings out the best in the people of the Estevan area, and there are few causes in the community that unite us like the telethon. It raises money for our member agencies and community partners, who, in turn, are able to meet the needs of so many people in the community. The United Way has worked hard in the past decade to expand its services to the community through such initiatives as the Day of Caring, which helps hundreds of people each year, and the Community Impact Fund, which supports local organizations.
